Objectives of the Club

The objectives of the club are to:

– introduce children to tennis
– develop their tennis skills
– provide a fun environment for learning.

Our membership exceeds 200 children aged between 5 and 18 who are organised in groups according to ability.

We have the dedicated use of 5 courts (3 floodlit) at the Farley Wood Community Centre (click for directions).

Various coaching sessions are run on weekday evenings and every Saturday.

Latika fields various teams in the National Junior Club Leagues. Many members have represented Berkshire with some having progressed to play at national level.

There is a full programme of both summer and winter club tournaments to improve match-play skills.

Latika is run by a voluntary committee consisting of member’s parents.

History of the Club

40 years of Latika

Latika JTC was founded in 1971 by a retired professional tennis coach. He started giving informal coaching to a group of children and soon developed a devoted following.
He formed the group into a club, and named it after a small community he had visited in South Africa. The club moved to the Farley Wood Community Centre in 1994.

How to Join LATIKA

To join, you must be between 5 and 18 years of age.

Before you make up your mind we invite you to attend up to four coaching sessions, preferably on Saturday morning, for which the normal session coaching fee is payable. These four sessions do not have to be consecutive weeks. You will be put into the most suitable coaching group depending on your age and experience. There is no need to book; just turn up at the appropriate time for your group. If you would like advice as to which group is most suitable, please contact us.

By the fourth trial coaching session you need to join the club to continue attending coaching. Our membership fee for the July 2017 – June 2018 year is £45. The membership fee is reduced if you join part way through the year. Further children from the same family can also join at a reduced rate. Information will be given at the time of processing your membership.

To join please fill in the form Latika Membership Form. Please make cheques payable to ‘Latika JTC’.
